Kare4Knyaw Program

Our English volunteering program is established amongst two Karen schools within the Karen state. The program is run by four high school chapters globally.

What is Kare4Knyaw?

Firstly, Knyaw is the Karen word for Karen people (pronounced kuh-nyaw)! Kare4Knyaw is an English conversation exchange program between Karen students and high schoolers in Hong Kong / United States (but anyone is welcome to volunteer).

Volunteers connect with college-aged Karen students virtually for one-hour each week. Students have the opportunity to practice English conversation skills and engage in cultural exchanges with their language partners.

The program was first established in 2025 and ran with a total of 58 volunteers and 78 students. Kare4Knyaw will resume in the fall of 2026. If you are interested, please sign up using the link below!
